Televend Optimizes Logistic Operations for German Food Vendor, Mittmann
About Mittmann:
Mittmann Catering & Konzepte is a full-service food vending and catering provider for the business sector. It is a family-owned company, started in 1962, with 55 employees and over 500 machines in public and private sites. Torben, Head of IT and Operations, and his brothers continue the tradition of providing businesses with high-quality food vending machines and fresh meals for events, conferences, and office canteens.
Challenge: Underoptimized logistic operations
Mittmann was dealing with logistic problems and high costs of operations.
They have been using static route planning with a fixed schedule. Drivers did the same routes every week on the same day, no matter the actual stock level in the machines, which caused unnecessary and costly trips.
Moreover, the staff has been using old-school hand-written filing lists as well as service and HACCP documentation. So, drivers didn’t know which products were missing or which machines needed a refill until they arrived at the location and saw that products were already sold out.
Also, product expiration tracking was too expensive and time-consuming, and they didn’t have any means to track sales cycles. For example, some sweets or drinks used to stay in the machine for a couple of months before being sold out.



Solution: Televend dynamic routing, cash control, and product tracking
After testing several tools, Torben chose Televend as the most user-friendly and helpful solution to achieve his goals.
His company uses Televend’s dynamic routing based on machines’ real-time sales and stock data. That way, the system detects which machines need a refill. Also, service staff is motivated to perform better and control each other because everything is monitored and reported in the system.
Mittmann also uses the cash-counting function with money bag tracking for reporting to the controller. The drivers use the “best-before-date” function in the Staff App to control the expiration dates of the products. They also use Televend’s smart planogram to analyze sales performance and detect top and low sellers.
Moreover, the option to “build” our own reports in Televend Cloud is the most helpful function we use to make tactical and strategic decisions.


Result: Up to 70% more machines serviced
Using Televend’s dynamic routing, Mittmann can service more machines in a day. Before, operators could service 10-12 machines per day, but now that number goes up to 17-21 depending on the complexity of the route. On average, that is 70% more machines. On top of that, it helped them cut costs and efficiently reorganize drivers when some of them were on vacation.
Moreover, since service operators use Televend’s mobile app to see what they need to refill, they don’t need to check the stock status on the machine. On average, that saved them 10 minutes per machine.
With planogram analytics, Torben improved his sales numbers by giving more space to top-selling products and reducing the number of items taking too long to sell.
